Neon City

A young woman, mid-stride in the center of the frame walks on a sidewalk. She is facing to the left, but looking over her shoulder toward the right. Behind her are parked cars and tall buildings plastered with brightly colored, glowing signs of various colors. Some of them are written in Japanese and advertise ramen shops and karaoke bars. Others are written in English and say things such as "EAT," "More Stuff," "Sell your soul," and "Girls+Boys Upstairs." The woman is sporting a long, white ponytail with brown roots. She also wears cranberry-colored, thigh-high stiletto boots, a black dress with white pleats in the skirt and a cream-colored leather jacket. A crescent moon dots the sky to above her to the right of her head. They style is a comic-type style/

The woman was still green, and unfamiliar with city life. She came from the country, having never been exposed to advanced technology, and wouldn’t have seen the need if she had. Her town was small, and everyone knew each others’ business.

She’d grown up with a phone and television, but the most advanced piece of tech she’d ever used was her digital camera. She mainly used it on her walks to take pictures of the town, its people and the plants and animals who also lived there. She would bring it home to show her family what she’d seen that day, and sometimes she would have the pictures printed.

But when it came time to leave her home for an incredible opportunity in the city, she was just proud of herself for figuring out the cyber watch and eye glass the company had given her. She would never trust it, but it was incredibly handy. The city, with neon glowing on every corner, was another beast altogether.

This is a very loose self-portrait, mainly because the dress and jacket are inspired by an actual dress and jacket that I own. However, this is more of an original character than anything else.
